Recently I was assigned a project in art. The assignment was to create five monsters using magazine clippings. I was supposed to use creative proportion and alignment. Here is the result! My favorite is the crazy bearded man getting ready for a fight! I also like the cat/lady/baby.

Now on the general subject of bloggage. I'm working on getting my Spanish grade up so that I can get a license. The rule of my house is that I must have a 3.0 or higher GPA to get it. I hope I can do it.

Business Is Slow

Well that's the truth. Not much is new. I'm starting after school practices for our Spring Concert and we're doing world pop as a theme. We're doing a few Bollywood songs, and some songs from Europe, Asia, and America. It should be pretty fun. That's about it though. That's why I haven't posted in a while. Business is slow.

I am. I truly am. I am overwhelmed. I have a lot to write about. I’ll just go in chronological order I guess. OK, so yesterday Emily and me went to the beach for our one-month anniversary. It was great. We walked on the beach, tried to make a fire and did not succeed, walked more and talked. It was really fun.
Ok but the main story was my adventure ride today with Michael. It was the longest and hardest ride I’ve ever ridden but it was probably also the most fun riding I’ve ever done. We did our epic ride at the park, Annadel, in Santa Rosa. First we started at the bottom of canyon, a fire road, and went up that then we went up marsh trail, then we kept going on marsh, past Buick meadow and South Burma, and kept going up, and we went around the marsh. Then we rode down bay area ridge trail and down marsh, up the rest of canyon and then down spring creek. To probably all of you, that didnt make sense because of all the trail names but it is a very long ride. AT least 10 miles of off-road riding. After that we were coming down to Stonehedge drive and we realized we had no idea where my dad was to give us a ride home so we just kept riding. We rode all over Santa Rosa and we rode all the way from Santa Rosa to Sebastopol. We got lost in all these ghettos and had crazy experiences with weird people. It was truly an adventure in the purest sense. It was so fun. We talked a lot, ate powerbars, drank water and Emergen-C, and had fun. It was so much fun. It was epic. We got home to Sebastopol, ate some Mexican food then rode home, showered, and then I came here and wrote my excursion down so that you, the reader could experience it as I did. I had an amazing weekend and I hope you enjoy this twisting line of pixels running down the page to create my thoughts into an intertwined mess of experiences and dreams.

Sometimes A Great Notion

Well about five days ago my friend Hannah got sick and I was with my friend Malia and we thought it would be sweet to go over and comfort her while she was ailing. So we went and hung out and talked to her and then left and walked around town for a while. About two days after this though, I was at Ragle and I felt that I needed to get home because my stomach was yelling at me so I walked home, ate a burger, salad, and then that night, the burger and salad came back up. Blech!
Now, I've been home from school for the past 2 days. I'm going tomorrow. It sucks being sick though. It's nice not having to go to school but also I can't see friends and I'm sort of isolated. It's been sort of fun. I watched a few movies, watched some Family Guy, read a little bit of this book called Sometimes A Great Notion. It's pretty good so far but I'm not that far into it. I've heard that's it's amazing from my dad though, so I'll keep chugging.

I went on a long mountain bike ride with Micahel and my dad today. Michael is the drummer in a band that I play in. We rode a really long ways and I got really tired because I had been going to bed at around 2 for the past three or four nights. I was really tired and got drained pretty fast. It was still really fun though. Now I'm listening to The Cure and eating. Tonight I'm going on a date but it might rain so we'll probably go see a movie. It'll be fun though.
I'm really glad because I have Monday and Tuesday off. I'm looking forward to it!

Freedom

Why is this titled freedom? Perhaps it is because I have about 2 weeks of no school. Finals just ended so we have what is called intersession. Intersession is where we can do a class that is a really fun class like pottery or debate class or something like that, or we can travel to another country like China, Spain, etc. I chose do the History Rock And Roll but that was full so I got into an orienteering and outdoor survival one. They both were cool and the one I got was my second choice so I'm pretty excited. So we have intersession which is about 8 days and then we have like a one week break afterward so I'm really excited.
Life is generally good. Finals went pretty well. I finished my science poster, finished my Spanish final, and did well on the math. I'm pretty glad. Time to forget everything I just learned! Ah... Feels good.

Tears Of Blood : A Cry For Tibet

Well, tomorrow is my first day of finals. I have a math and a science final. I'm not too worried about the math one but the science one might be a bit of a challenge. I have to know all this stuff about cell membrane's, plasmolysis, osmosis, and turgor pressure. Complicated stuff.
In humanities we're reading a book called Tears Of Blood, which is an amazing book about the Chinese takeover of Tibet. If everyone on the planet read this book, the situation over there would be over within a few years. Easily. It's horrifying what's going on there. Did you know that the Tibetan mothers would have to feed their children with their own blood mixed with Tsampa in order to survive. Often they would eventually die of blood loss because of having no real food to feed them with. Also, they had these gathering's called thamzings, where they would publicly humiliate and eventually kill all the highest lama's of the Buddhist religion. They would make them eat their own urine and feces in front of a crowd of 30,000 when normally that crowd would have worshipped these lama's. It's horrifying. They would then beat them to death in front of the crowd. It makes me wonder how this could be going on in our world and almost no one knows the truth. It's still going on today also, which is the worst part. Plus, the Buddhists belive in having no violence so they will never fight back. The only end to this terrible situation would be the extinction of the Tietan's, or military force of another country against China. The only bright side of this is that a young generation of Tibetan's are becoming sick of the situation and are beginning to revolt, but even so, China has a far superior military so this may not end for decades. I really suggest reading Tears Of Blood
though because I didn't know anything about this until I read it.

Life is pretty steady at this point. I've been listening to some new music like Guided By Voices, The Faint, The Shins, and a little bit of Fastball. I really like The Shins. They're probably my favorite band at this point. Also Of Montreal and I'm From Barcelona are good.
I finished my Spanish final finally. I worked on it with Jesse and we got it done yesterday. It was really relieving.
Last night I saw Gran Torino. It was absolutely stunning. It made a huge impact on me. The acting was alright but the plot and the general story was amazing. It was amazing. I really recommend it. It was a stunning and heartfelt film.

Well, again I am posting from school. I'm in my Frisbee Golf exploratory but he gave us a free period because it's like 31 degrees out I think. In case you don't know, exploratories are courses you pick instead of get assigned like math and English and stuff. I have finals on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week. It's going to be tough but I'll make it I think. I have a big science quiz which I have to study for a lot and I can't even use a reference sheet. Tough.
Last night I played guitar for a choral concert my school was doing. The choir sang about 15 songs and we played in one. We played Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. It was pretty fun. The choir though was amazing. They sang beautifully and they even had a song with a seven part harmony in it. The conductor even started crying during one song. He is a great conductor and he expects perfection but he gets it in a good way.
For music, my final is to make an instrument and I chose a guitar because guitar is probably my biggest passion. Yesterday I finished the neck and today I think I'm going to attach the neck to the cigar box I'm using for a body. Maybe later I'll put in pickups too. Then, once I'm done, I have to give a performance with my instrument as my final. It'll be fun though.

I haven't posted in a while. The reason is because a lot has been going on. School, friends, etc. I feel that I am pretty busy lately and I don't consider blogging a priority. I decided just now, though, that I am going to post a blog and here it is.
First of all I'd like to with everyone a Happy New Years. 2009 is a big step in history. The end of Bush presidency, Obama taking office, first black president. Science has made more and more discoveries and knowledge is at a peak and so is technology. I think that there are a lot of things looming in the year 2009. Also, it just feels like a big step. It's a year before 2010 which will be the first double digit year in the 21st century. We are starting to feel as if we're not just starting the 21st century, but we are immersed in it. Just a little outlook on the year to come.
Personally though, life has changed only a small amount. I think that this Christmas break was the greatest two weeks of my life. I was with friends the whole time, me and a friend spent about five days together, and I met my current girlfriend. Life for me has not changed much though. School is the same, friends are the same.
Last night I watched The Wall. It was my second time, but this time I watched it with my dad. It was fun and we really enjoyed it. I realized though, that it doesn't have a lot of replay value.
My review for The Wall: The Wall is an amazing journey. It is emotional, deep, heartfelt, and also very sad. The movie has a general plot, but it is very interpretable. You can find your own meanings in the psychedelic images Pink Floyd uses in the movie. It is an epic journey of a man, Pink, who builds a wall around himself and feels isolated from the world and tries to break free but can't, so inside his wall of isolation he is slowly driven insane. It is a wonderful movie though and it is made even better by the amazing soundtrack. I would definitely recommend it.
My finals in school are coming up so I have been studying quite a bit. Spanish especially since that is my weak point. Math, science, humanities, and music, I feel extremely comfortable in though. We'll see how it goes though...

I'm over my cold. It was just a weekend thing. School's going good. Me and this kid Daniel have become very good friends. He's really funny. We laughed so hard we were crying the whole way home in the carpool. We play Ping-Pong at lunch every day. We are a very good match but i can beat him most of the time. We want to play the 2 best teachers at Ping Pong. We think we can beat them at doubles. We just have to practice a little. Favorite song at this moment is Common People by Pulp. I'm hoping to put my favorite song at the time of posting in all my posts. Kind of like an update on my favorite music.

Annual Sickness

I got a little cold but I think it'll be gone by the end of the weekend. I'll be O.K. for school on Monday. I feel a little nauseous and have a sore throat. I get sick about 1 a year and it always starts on the first rain which was today by the way. I hate doing homework while I'm sick but...

I've been super busy recently. I'm not sure how long I can keep up with school. I do about 2 hours of homework then I watch an episode of Friday Night Lights then I go to bed. It's really tiring because I have no downtime really but its also fun. The posts might be slow for awhile because of school.

I had my first day of school today. It was really exciting. I only know 3 people from my old school that are going to this new school. All the people there are really nice and the teachers are great. I think I'm going to really enjoy it there.

Today I hung out with Michael then went to see Tropic Thunder. It was a very funny movie. I am glad that Ben Stiller hasn't sold out like all the other comedy actors like him. Will Farrell made a couple of good movies then went downhill. Ben hasn't really done that and his movies are great.

I've been listening to Michael Franti recently. I really like his music and the lyrics are pretty good too. I've also been listening to some more Jimi Hendrix. I didn't like his music style because it isn't that lyrical or melodic. I'm starting to like it much more though because i think he's an amazing player and has some really great songs. I like his smoother more melodic songs like Castles Made Of Sand.

Last night I slept over at my friend Michael's house. He is a guy in my Funk band. We stayed up until 6 in the morning playing Ghost Recon (a video game) and talking. It was really fun.
After I left his house I came home and no one was here so I went around the back to see if I could climb through a window or something. I saw our garage door open and the light on but all the lights in the house were off so I went over to our neighbor's house to stay for awhile. They said I could spend the night if my parents didn't come home which i think was really nice of them. I waited there and watched the Olympics while trying to get a hold of my parents. I eventually got them and went home. It was a fun couple of days.

Well today is the last day of work i'll be doing for the summer. It's been a very fun job. On the last day of every session we do a little bit of swimming but then we plays lots of games with the kids. Its a pretty easy and relaxed day. Yesterday i went to a school a lot of my friends are going to and said hi to them. It was pretty fun. I hung out a little bit but then i had to go to work. Hope all your summers are going good.

Summer is slowly winding down. A lot of people are going back to school but i don't have to go until September 16. Its pretty cool that it starts so late. Recently schools have been going back earlier and earlier. I'm glad i still have a month left. I have 3 days left of work. I work at a swimming pool teaching kids how to swim. Its a fun job. Hope everyone else's summer is going good!

The Dark Knight

I saw Batman last night. I saw it in iMax so it was pretty amazing. The screen was so big and it almost gave me a headache from all the movement. The story was pretty intellectual. It was an overall 8/10. I would definitely recommend it. Right now I am home alone with my sisters dog. He is a very cute beagle. I hope to get a cat soon but I'm still working it out with my mom. We'll see how that goes though.
